The goal of “Shop Local – Hire Local” is to support local small businesses through grassroots networking and promotion. Local business leaders have begun discussing how local Missourians can work together to address those economic challenges we face. Among those activities are:

- Promotion for local business to the community
- Networking and publicity for local workers through job fairs and online forums
- Website to further advance the Shop Local Hire Local goals
- Marketing and branding materials created for local businesses to proudly display their participation
- Continued roundtables of local small businesses to brainstorm ideas
