One of the greatest blessings of the internet age is the ability for anyone anywhere to share their beliefs and their opinions in and open and free manner. This freedom, like many under the Obama Administration is in danger of being stripped from all Americans.

The U.S. House’s Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the U.S. Senate’s version of the bill, the Protect IP Act (PIPA) are being sold to Americans as a means of protecting intellectual property rights. Like any other Federal Power grab, the law is written so broadly that any website could be shut down for the thinnest of reasons.

If we have learned anything from the Obama presidency, it is that powers of this scope will eventually be abused. Neither the Obama Administration, nor the Attorney General’s office nor any private party shill should be allowed to deprive Americans of their constitutionally protected rights of free speech. Handing the Federal government a tool like SOPA or PIPA will give the Feds what they need to do exactly that.

We are just nine months away from ending the Obama nightmare, but Harry Reid and the liberals in the Senate plan a vote in the next few days on this bill leaving their friends in the vast bureaucracy the pretense they need to shut down Americans exercising their freedom of speech.

Do not be fooled by “Republicans” in both the House and the Senate. We know that being in the GOP does not necessarily mean you are a friend of limited government. We must hit the phones, email and fax machines to let our elected officials know that if you pass this bill, WE WILL VOTE YOU OUT!!!

Please contact your Congressman and Senators immediately and kill the SOPA bill! Harry Reid wants to bring this to a vote as soon as possible so we must fight now to protect our freedom.

Thank you to everyone willing to stand up for Freedom.

All the best,
Ed Martin

(St. Louis) – December 6, 2011 – The grassroots push to Nullify Obamacare in Missouri continues this evening at The Pillar in Chesterfield Valley. A panel including Ed Martin and Senator Jim Lembke will be on hand to discuss and take questions on nullifcation.

“This country has been trending towards bigger federal government for decades leaving less and less power to the states,” said Martin. ”Now, it seems the Obama Administration is testing the resolve of the states to see just how much power they can take. We are at a crucial point in history where we can continue letting bureaucrats in DC usurp power until state sovereignty is dead or we can make a stand to keep the power close to the people where it belongs.”

Ed has been at the forefront of the movement to nullify obamacare speaking at the “Nullify Now” event in Kansas City, launching the site http://www.stopmobamacare.com, and testifying in front of the Senate Panel at the recent Health Care Exchange Hearing in St. Charles.

Tonight’s event takes place from 5PM to 7:30PM and will be moderated by Senator Brian Nieves. To see full details, please visit the facebook events page here.

I have long fought for the pro-life cause. I have fought for legal protection against tax dollars being spent on abortion or human cloning. I have gone so far as to lead a lawsuit against Missouri elected officials to enforce bans on just this use of tax dollars.

In my role as president of Missouri Roundtable for Life, I have seen attacks on life in the Missouri legislature but nothing like this. To see Jay Nixon sign such a law is infuriating, though unsurprising given he would not even sign a ban on partial birth abortion. To see him sign a bill with Republican support shocking. The Republicans who sent this bill to Jay Nixon represent a betrayal of years of pro-life efforts.

In Governor Blunt’s administration, our team worked to cut off federal funding to Planned Parenthood. We prevented those dollars from ebbing funneled through our state government into the hands of our nation’s largest abortion provider. My campaign has started a series of lectures entitled “No Truce on Life” to highlight the importance of the pro-life fight and help instill pro-life values in our community.

Protecting life must be the number one priority of our state and federal legislators. There can be no compromise when it comes to our values and protecting the most innocent.

You Can Help

This week a contributor has offered a “Money Match” of $2000 to support our pro-life candidacy. If you have the means to contribute $10, $50 or $100 the money match sponsor will match it dollar for dollar, doubling your pro-life support.

(St. Louis) – December 1, 2011 – Tonight, Ed Martin is proud to host the second “No Truce on Life” dinner in Chesterfield with keynote speaker Luke Vander Bleek, an Illinois pharmacist who took on the corrupt practices of Rod Blagojevich when Blagojevich tried to force pro-life medical professionals to give up their right of conscience. These “No Truce” events were created to celebrate life and those brave enough to fight for the unborn.

“I am proud to have fought side-by-side with Luke to protect life” said Martin. “Luke and I saw that Blagojevich was in cahoots with Planned Parenthood in issuing Illinois government orders that would force pro-life professionals to act against their conscience in protecting life. Luke courageously brought his suit against the state of Illinois and I was proud to be on his legal team. Just a few months ago the Illinois Supreme Court upheld Luke’s rights of conscience.”

Tonight’s event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30PM at The Pillar in Chestefield Valley. For more details, please visit us here.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(St. Louis) – November 30, 2011 – Last week, Ed Martin hosted his campaign’s 50th “Ask Ed” meet and greet. Ed will be attending at least 5 more such events before Chistmas proving, once again that Ed will outwork anyone on the campaign trail.

“Our ‘Ask Ed’ meet and greets are a large part of what drives our grassroots campaign,” said Martin. ”It is a great opportunity for us to connect with citizens all throughout the Second District. While I get a chance to talk about who I am and why I am running, the main purpose of these events is to have a discussion. All too often, we see unaccountable elected officials who don’t even allow their constituents to ask them questions about issues affecting their everyday lives. We call these meet and greets ‘Ask Ed’ because we want the citizens of Missouri to have their voices heard. I will not shy away from tough questions and I will give you real answers not poll tested, canned answers. If you are willing to support us in this way, we would love to come to your home and talk with your friends, family, and neighbors.”

For MO-2 voters to host an “Ask Ed” meet and greet or to learn more about our past meet and greets, please visit our brand new “Ask Ed” webpage at http://edmartinforcongress.com/contact/host-a-coffee-with-ed/.

“Bills like Dodd Frank have added countless hours to my work load that are spent on paper work and achieving new certifications instead of spending that time with my clients,” said Andrew Broombaugh, son of Tammy Luechtefeld and a top agent at the firm. ”Over-regulation is clearly causing inefficiency in our business and hurting out bottom line.”

Tammy Luechtefeld, owner and general manager, further explained issues with government involvement as she explained to Ed that insurance companies are now forced to certify even long time agents through an online certification system.

“I consider myself to be a knowledgeable woman, but I simply could not navigate the website to get my certification,” said Tammy. ”I spoke to an agent this morning to walk me through the site, and she said she is yet to come across one person able to successfully navigate the site!”

And if the new regulations weren’t enough, Tammy’s health costs have gone up.

“I went from paying just over $500 per month for each of my employees’ health insurance before Obamacare was passed to now paying over $600 per month,” she continued. ”Do you honestly think I made that much more in profits?”

Unfortunately, this has become a common theme seen throughout the “EdWorks” program.

“When Obama and the Democrats touted so called reforms like Obamacare and Dodd-Frank, they claimed they were creating them for small businesses and the middle class,” explained Martin. ”As our ‘EdWorks’ program continues, it is apparent that the middle class along with small business are the ones hurt the most by the Obama economy. Obama’s lack of private sector experience is no longer a fear of most Americans, it has become a dangerous reality.”
