Ed has become a fixture at events that concern government transparency as well as limiting the size and scope of government. He will be speaking today to educate Missouri citizens on how to better defend themselves from government intrusion in their every day lives much like his speeches during the “Nullify Now” Series.

(St. Louis) – December 6, 2011 – The grassroots push to Nullify Obamacare in Missouri continues this evening at The Pillar in Chesterfield Valley. A panel including Ed Martin and Senator Jim Lembke will be on hand to discuss and take questions on nullifcation.

“This country has been trending towards bigger federal government for decades leaving less and less power to the states,” said Martin. ”Now, it seems the Obama Administration is testing the resolve of the states to see just how much power they can take. We are at a crucial point in history where we can continue letting bureaucrats in DC usurp power until state sovereignty is dead or we can make a stand to keep the power close to the people where it belongs.”

Ed has been at the forefront of the movement to nullify obamacare speaking at the “Nullify Now” event in Kansas City, launching the site http://www.stopmobamacare.com, and testifying in front of the Senate Panel at the recent Health Care Exchange Hearing in St. Charles.

Tonight’s event takes place from 5PM to 7:30PM and will be moderated by Senator Brian Nieves. To see full details, please visit the facebook events page here.

(St. Louis) – December 1, 2011 – Tonight, Ed Martin is proud to host the second “No Truce on Life” dinner in Chesterfield with keynote speaker Luke Vander Bleek, an Illinois pharmacist who took on the corrupt practices of Rod Blagojevich when Blagojevich tried to force pro-life medical professionals to give up their right of conscience. These “No Truce” events were created to celebrate life and those brave enough to fight for the unborn.

“I am proud to have fought side-by-side with Luke to protect life” said Martin. “Luke and I saw that Blagojevich was in cahoots with Planned Parenthood in issuing Illinois government orders that would force pro-life professionals to act against their conscience in protecting life. Luke courageously brought his suit against the state of Illinois and I was proud to be on his legal team. Just a few months ago the Illinois Supreme Court upheld Luke’s rights of conscience.”

Tonight’s event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30PM at The Pillar in Chestefield Valley. For more details, please visit us here.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(St. Louis) – November 30, 2011 – Last week, Ed Martin hosted his campaign’s 50th “Ask Ed” meet and greet. Ed will be attending at least 5 more such events before Chistmas proving, once again that Ed will outwork anyone on the campaign trail.

“Our ‘Ask Ed’ meet and greets are a large part of what drives our grassroots campaign,” said Martin. ”It is a great opportunity for us to connect with citizens all throughout the Second District. While I get a chance to talk about who I am and why I am running, the main purpose of these events is to have a discussion. All too often, we see unaccountable elected officials who don’t even allow their constituents to ask them questions about issues affecting their everyday lives. We call these meet and greets ‘Ask Ed’ because we want the citizens of Missouri to have their voices heard. I will not shy away from tough questions and I will give you real answers not poll tested, canned answers. If you are willing to support us in this way, we would love to come to your home and talk with your friends, family, and neighbors.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(St. Louis) – November 28, 2011 – Last week, Ed spent the morning at Tammy Luechtefeld State Farm Insurance to not only find out how the Obama economy is affecting the insurance industry, but to also see how it is affected by both Obamacare and the Dodd-Frank Bill.

“Bills like Dodd Frank have added countless hours to my work load that are spent on paper work and achieving new certifications instead of spending that time with my clients,” said Andrew Broombaugh, son of Tammy Luechtefeld and a top agent at the firm. ”Over-regulation is clearly causing inefficiency in our business and hurting out bottom line.”

Tammy Luechtefeld, owner and general manager, further explained issues with government involvement as she explained to Ed that insurance companies are now forced to certify even long time agents through an online certification system.

“I consider myself to be a knowledgeable woman, but I simply could not navigate the website to get my certification,” said Tammy. ”I spoke to an agent this morning to walk me through the site, and she said she is yet to come across one person able to successfully navigate the site!”

And if the new regulations weren’t enough, Tammy’s health costs have gone up.

”I went from paying just over $500 per month for each of my employees’ health insurance before Obamacare was passed to now paying over $600 per month,” she continued. ”Do you honestly think I made that much more in profits?”

Unfortunately, this has become a common theme seen throughout the “EdWorks” program.

“When Obama and the Democrats touted so called reforms like Obamacare and Dodd-Frank, they claimed they were creating them for small businesses and the middle class,” explained Martin. ”As our ‘EdWorks’ program continues, it is apparent that the middle class along with small business are the ones hurt the most by the Obama economy. Obama’s lack of private sector experience is no longer a fear of most Americans, it has become a dangerous reality.”

(St. Louis) – November 21, 2011 – This morning, Ed Martin released this statement on the failure of Congress and it’s Supercommittee.

“Congress failed the American people. This is a shameful situation,” said Ed Martin. “When Congress lifted the debt ceiling on August 2nd, they promised to address the problem of the government’s out-of-control spending by setting up a Supercommittee. It is clear now that either the ‘Supercommittee’ was never a serious effort, or designed to fail.”

“Now, we have no meaningful cuts in spending and trust in Congress is evaporating.” Martin continued, “The House was not handed to the GOP to raise taxes, they were sent there to get an out-of-control government under control. We are headed for a cliff. Congressmen who do not realize this and act accordingly should resign or be defeated in future primaries and elections making way for someone who does.”

(St. Louis) – November 17, 2011 – Ed Martin released a statement this morning in response to the national debt passing 15 trillion dollars.

“Our government, the men and women who supposedly work for us, have put us all in so much debt that it is hard to determine our future and more importantly the future of our children,” said Martin. ”While congress continues to spend us into oblivion, many in Missouri’s 2nd District are left out of work. Unemployment in the St. Louis Region is at 8.8%, not far from the national average of 9%. The American people are waiting on solutions from a government that does not take their concerns seriously and obviously has no intention of solving our debt problem. The people of MO-2 need a Congressman that will stand against the reckless spending of both parties and not defer to leadership to further their career.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(St. Louis) – November 15, 2011 – In just six days, the two Republicans vying to be their party’s pick for Missouri’s Second Congressional District will square off in their second debate in O’Fallon.

The Martin Campaign carried an energy from the debate that lasted for weeks. They put every question from the debate on their website and posted the videos to Twitter and Facebook. In contrast, the Wagner camp went silent. They have commited to one more after Monday’s debate, but have yet to commit to the other seven debates proposed by Ambassador Wagner.

“I enjoy debates for the same reason that I think primaries are a positive thing,” said Martin. ”They allow voters to see candidates from every angle in order to make an informed choice instead of having their choices made for them, which often happens without primaries. The people of MO-2 want to hear real answers to issues that continue to affect their everyday lives. I look forward to a debate with real substance, not soundbites.”

Monday’s debate will take place at the Culpepper’s on Highway K in O’Fallon from 6pm to 7pm. To see a full list of debates scheduled so far, please visit http://edmartinforcongress.com/events/.
