Carnahan Family Feud

Secretary of State Robn Carnahan, running for Senate, realizes that she needs to convince Missourians that she is not just another tax and spend liberal. One would be wise to take such a conversion to fiscal responsibility with a heaping helping of salt. Still, we would point out that her brother Russ Carnahan is at the center of the very problem she is criticizing.

From Time to Time, we’ll update you on the running Feud.

Robin Carnahan Swings at Opponent, hits Brother -- In late September of 2008, Carnahan voted for a failed $700 billion Wall Street bailout, and he voted days later for the subsequently enacted bailout, which included an additional $150 billion in pork. In January 2009, Russ Carnahan voted against blocking paying out half of the bailout.  His sister Robin is running this ad, which, for the point it makes, goes double for her sibling who had a chance to trim our losses in half, and chose not to.

Ms. Carnahan must have forgotten her brother’s political action committee.  From the Post Dispatch:  ”The Arch Leadership PAC belongs to none other than Robin’s brother, U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan, a point that Republican Ed Martin — challenging Russ’ bid for a fourth term — was all too happy to point out. “

These folks work for us, and we ought to be able to know who they’re meeting with and what they’re up to.” Russ Carnahan failed to disclose two business entities, both of which had questionable dealings.
