Real Job Growth (step 1)

Do you have a job? Are you worried about keeping it? Your congressman certainly isn’t.

So far, President Obama’s “stimulus” has done a great job of siphoning money OUT of the economy, but that’s about it.

  • Russ Carnahan’s vote for this year’s so-called stimulus package has cost Missouri over 38,000 jobs – with many of those exported overseas directly from this district.
  • Our unemployment rate has raced from just over 4% one year ago to more than 10% today. Nationwide more than 21,000 people PER DAY are losing their jobs.
  • So far, 49 states and the District of Columbia have lost jobs as a direct result of Washington’s national spending spree!

The White House promised 3.4 million new jobs, but nearly 3 million jobs have been lost! Those facts, however, haven’t stopped them from proudly proclaiming that they have “saved or created” hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Our elected leaders do not grasp the fact that nobody – not even the government – can borrow your way out of debt!

There is another way. Truth is, there is only one tried and tested formula for job creation and real economic growth that has succeeded EVERY TIME it has ever been tried.

My plan for job creation and economic growth follows a tried and tested formula that has succeeded EVERY TIME it has ever been tried! I’ll be blogging and talking about this a lot in the coming days and weeks, but the cornerstone of real prosperity is IMMEDIATE TAX RELIEF.

The first thing Congress MUST do is stop siphoning money out of the economy and out of working familes’ bank accounts. If we reduce the lowest individual tax rates from 15% to 10% and from 10% to 5% — we will provide EVERY working family with immediate, significant tax relief. The average married couple filing jointly would save up to $3,200 a year.

But that’s just the start. To REALLY get our economy moving again, we need to give small business owners the tools they need to create jobs. The best thing Washington can do for small businesses is leave them alone! American small business is overburdened, over-regulated and taxed coming and going, siphoning as much as one-third of all income away from our economic engine. If we provide small businesses with a 20% tax deduction, they can put that money to work right here IN THEIR COMMUNITY, creating jobs and strengthening the economy.
