Martin’s Money on Hand Manifests Momentum

(ST. LOUIS, MO.) April 15, 2010 – In just the first three months of the year congressional candidate Ed Martin raised a very notable $202,658. This impressive total brings his campaign’s all important tally of cash on hand to$478,779. The success of Martin’s fundraising is attributed to grassroots support while incumbent Rep. Russ Carnahan must rely on the deep pockets of special interest groups. In fact more than half of Carnahan’s money this quarter comes from political action committees. Martin’s record breaking April quarterly is a telling tale; people want someone in Congress who will give a voice to the voters.

“Every dollar means so much. The fact that so many are struggling right now yet still continue to donate is a real testament to the drive of our grassroots effort. The people want someone in Congress who will truly represent them. I have, just in the past few months, held more town halls and public meetings than Congressman Carnahan has in the past year,” said Martin. “These latest fundraising numbers show people want to be a part of our high energy campaign as we fight for the will of the people. They don’t want a Pelosi yes man and a greedy government of wasteful spenders – they want to be heard and I’m listening.”

Martin’s fundraising continues Friday night, April 16th from 5-7pm at Orlando Gardens with a spaghetti dinner to honor Senator Kit Bond. Some 500 guests are expected to attend. The congressional candidate has many more fundraisers on the calendar for the following quarter.

  • Ed,
I just looked it up and Russ has actually raised the majority (60%) of his money from special interest PACs. http://www.opensecrets.org/races/summary.php?id=MO03&cycle=2010
You have raised money the honest way by having it come almost entirely from individuals. If you took out Russ’es special interest PAC money you would have outraised him by over $200K! And you’re the challenger? Seems his supporters aren’t that enthused about him. Well done.

  • Looks like good old Russ gets all his money from union folks. http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/contrib.php?cycle=2010&cid=N00005181&type=I

If you’re a union member reading this, I have to ask: How has Russ Carnahan really helped you? I know at least a few iron workers who have been unemployed for at least 6 months now. Ed is pro-business. If business grows again, you may be employed again. Russ just does what Obama and Pelosi tell him to do. So if there following economic policies that don’t work, how does giving thousands to a Democrate help you get a job when you go down to the union hall?
