Don’t Like It? –They Don’t Care
(ST. LOUIS, MO.) March 4, 2010 – President Obama’s threat of using reconciliation to ram through his health care reform has people on edge. It became the focus of the “We the People Health Care Summit” Wednesday night hosted by 3rd district Congressional candidate Ed Martin.
One speaker, who declared he’s not a Republican, vented frustration over the so-called “reform.” He told the crowd, “The whole world knows we don’t want the health care but they will push it through regardless…Well my blinders are off.” More than half of Americans are against Democrats using reconciliation to pass a health care bill, according to a Gallup survey. RealClearPolitics.com which tracks polls on health care reform reports the average support for the reform is only 40.8 percent. The American people do not want this plan, yet the President intends to force it upon us.
It’s no surprise Rubberstamp Russ Carnahan supports it. His voting record earned him that nickname among others like “Pelosi’s puppet.” Rep. Carnahan posted this comment to his website, “It’s time to have an up or down vote on whether to reform our health care system…I refuse to turn my back on people I represent when our broken system requires action to improve our economy and our health care.” Yet he is turning his back on the majority of people. Carnahan doesn’t even have a clue what the health care reform bill entails or how much it would cost. He became a laughing stock when he tried to sell people on the idea that the plan would create a surplus.
“The Congressional Budget Office most recently came out and analyzed the current plan and said that it was not only deficit-neutral, which has been one of the important factors for the President and congressional leaders, but also that over 10 years it would create a $6 billion surplus,” Carnahan told an audience on July 20, 2009, at Forest Park Community College in St. Louis. The audience laughed in response.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hoqfzwzgT8) The Congressional Budget Office reported the bill would create a $239 Billion deficit.
“Carnahan needs to wake up and listen to the people before casting any vote. The people of Missouri’s third district deserve to hear Carnahan detail exactly what is in the bill –including the earmarks left in it. And since the majority doesn’t want this government take-over of health care he also needs to explain why he supports pushing it through anyway. People deserve to know why their representative refuses to actually represent them,” said Ed Martin.
How can Carnahan, Pelosi, and the President justify reconciliation? Obama according to past statements doesn’t believe in using it. “You’ve got to break out of what I call, sort of, the 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics,” said the then Senator Obama. (Fox News, 2007) In 2005 Obama said, “A vehicle designed for deficit reduction and fiscal responsibility has been hijacked to facilitate reckless deficits and unsustainable debt.” (US News & World Report, Peter Roff, March 3, 2010)
If despite the people’s wishes reconciliation is used and they force a government take-over of health care it will undoubtedly change our world in such a way it will take decades to set straight. The crowd Wednesday night at the “We the People Health Care Summit” took some comfort in the fact that much of the bill being contemplated won’t be implemented for years.
“If it is somehow pushed through I promise, when voted in, to do everything in my power to repeal it. I will do what Carnahan refuses to do. I will take a stand for the people and be the sand in the gears of the implementation of it. We can and must stop it,” said Martin.

But it’s OK when the GOP does it?????? You really should stop lying to people about the Government taking over health care. I bet you believe that President Obama wasn’t born in this country and death panels are real.
