Last week we announced a “Money Bomb” – in essence a short-term fundraising drive often in response to an event. Supporters suggested it after the successful launch of “Rubber Stamp Carnahan”, our first online video. We put one together and set a goal of $100 for every million Russ Carnahan’s brother Tom stands to receive in taxpayer dollars from the stimulus to build his wind farm.
You all responded wonderfully. We exceeded our goal by nearly 400 dollars. Fundraising is one of those tough jobs a candidate simply has to do. It is especially hard to ask hardworking men and women who are already over-taxed and over-regulated to dig down and contribute just to get a congress that will stay off their back. The gracious and generous way you all have been supporting the campaign is humbling to me. We have almost as much in the bank as Russ Carnahan, and we are being far more careful with our resources than he is. If we stay on this pace, he won’t be able to just buy the election with a blanket of advertising.
